Insert a Bezier Curve to the Sketchup model based on four control points. Function curves. Download the amazing FREE SketchUp here! The Bezier Curve Tool is used to model smooth curves that. I am using sketchup 2015 on windows 8. That is common with setting Bezier curves.

Hello everyone, this is my first topic. I have two basic questions:- I have dowloaded and installed the plugins bezier.rb, bezierspline.rb, etc., but that doesn't give me a regular vector bezier drawing tool (like in Adobe Illustrator for example). Does such a drawing tool exist for Sketchup?- I can import simple vector formes created in Illustrator as DXF or DWG files.

However, once in Sketchup, it is not possible to extrude the formes with the 'push pull' tool. One has to re-draw over the top in freehand, which is very difficult (as I said earlier, the bezier plug-ins are difficult to use also and don't behave like regular bezier tools).Hope you can help.(I am on a Mac). Bezier curves are completely incompatible with any kind of mesh modeller, which relies upon a series of flat faces to simulate a curved surface.

Hence, any kind of Bezier tool, including the Ruby plugin, will produce not a continuous curve but a series of straight-line segments. The bezier charactersitics are limited to the means of actually achieving that line.the usual contol handles etc.You can export beziers from Illustrator, but you'll need to break them down into similar straight segments first, by using the Illustrator controls to put in enough anchor points to maintain the apparent smoothness of the curve before converting it to straight lines. You can then export to dwg to bring it into SketchUp.You can just export to an early release of AutoCAD dwg, such as R11, without going through the manual increase of anchor points. This will automatically export the curve as straight line segments. The problem is that there will be thousands of them, resulting in thousands of faces when such a shape is extruded.Attached is a SU file with both methods exported from Illustrator. You could argue that the manual one on the left doesn't have enough nodes (I left it that way for comparison), but it depends what you are using it for and exactly how much of this stuff you have in the model.

Certainly, if you have too much of the auto export on the right, the model would quickly become unnavigable. Bob,I'm not familiar with AutoCAD, but certainly Illustrator and CorelDraw allow you to edit a bezier curve and incrementally increase the number of nodes.placing an intermediate one between each existing one.by means of a single click, before converting the whole thing to straight lines. As Jim (?) mentioned Illustrator, that's what I used. In my example, the resulting dwgs were simply imported into SU and a single line traced over to fill in the faces (MakeFaces.rb does it better with complex shapes), before extruding. BTW Jim, doing it this way there was no question of having to trace the entire outline.

What you may find however is that if you import a dwg into a file already containing existing geometry the dwg will import grouped.so as not to connect to that geometry. In order to fill-in the face(s) and Push/Pull, it is first necessary to either explode that group or enter Group Edit mode.

Imagine how fast you'll be at this stuff when you don't have to actually type. What google bezier plugin? What is the problem with it?

Etc.thanks.One of the plugins Google has had available for download is a Bezier tool - let you draw Bezier curves. It came before Fredo made his excellent collection of Spline tools.Googles plugin is availible from the link Jeff linked to:The problem was that due to a SU8 bug in the API you could not edit the curves any more. I simply added a small workaround to make it function again. Thomthom wrote:Why aren't you updating?Updating SketchUp would eliminate the need for this plugin. It's always advisable to keep your software up to date so you have the latest fixes.updating SketchUp to M2, Thomas?well, that's a good idea perhaps. But, i usually wait for bugs fix in anything.

Including SketchUp.i always keep my SketchUp 6. Because that was the last version that i know works well and with a lot of bonus packs available to download back then. Nowadays SketchUp would only gives you Component Samplerif God will, i'll keep it forever.

Jacob Samuel has developed Bezier Surfaces from Curves. It is the newest sketchup extension that is compatible with SketchUp 2015, SketchUp 2016, SketchUp 2017.

The extension is used to generate and edit different types of Bezier surfaces out of Bezier curves, arcs, circles and lines.

Bezier Spline Sketchup

This extension includes a toolbar and items to the Draw as well as Right Mouse Button Context menus with tools to produce Ruled Rectangle, Translational Rectangle, Coons Rectangle, Ruled Triangle and Coons Triangle rational Bezier surfaces out of bounding non-rational and rational Bezier curves, arcs, circles and lines.

The types of surfaces to be produced (availability of the tools) are based on the number of curves chosen and provided that they allocate common endpoints.

As soon as the surface is generated, the tools will assign you into the editing tool for the surface drawn afresh. If required, the surface is edited according to your choice by shifting the points or lines of the resultant control net or modifying the 'weights' of the control points.

Inferencing can be accessed if a control point or line is shifted along with inference locking with the Shift key. If you press the Esc key throughout a move, the surface will be reset to the way it was prior to the starting of move./p>

With the purpose of modifying the weight of a non-end control point, hover the cursor over the control point for which the weight should be altered in order that it is featured in green, put the new weight you prefer for it, devoid of moving the cursor ahead of the control point, and press enter or return to affect the shape of the surface.

Afterward, choosing an obtainable Bezier surface drawn/edited with these tools and applying Edit Rational Bezier Surface or Edit Bezier Triangle in the Right Mouse Button Context menu will also activate the editing tool for the chosen surface.
